Under the GSM-7 encoding standard, the maximum length of an SMS is 160 characters. This number can drop drastically to just 70 characters when using special characters, non-Latin alphabets, or accents.
However, to overcome these limitations, it is possible to implement long SMS.
A long SMS is a concatenation of several SMS messages, which the receiving mobile device recombines to display as a single, longer message.
Each SMS is billed separately and can contain a maximum of 153 characters instead of 160. Once recombined, the recipient sees only one long message.
Long SMS have a maximum length of 764 non-Unicode characters. Using special characters can reduce each fragment to 63 characters. In this case, a long SMS can reach a maximum length of 504 characters.
Long SMS is a feature that Octopush offers in its Premium version.

The term "mobile originated" (abbreviated as MO) refers to the type of messages that customers send from their mobile phones.
A mobile-originated message can be the first step taken by a buyer during an SMS marketing campaign, such as when a customer replies to a promotional text.
M
A mobile terminating (MT) message refers to any message sent to a mobile phone. The communication ends at this mobile device, regardless of the message's origin.
During a customer's journey in an SMS marketing campaign, it is common for the user to send an MO message after receiving promotional content; when the marketer replies to this SMS, the generated message is an MT.

In marketing, the open rate is a performance metric that indicates the number of people who open or view an email or SMS.
Generally, this rate is expressed as a percentage. It is calculated by dividing the number of opened messages by the number of messages sent.
To obtain a reliable open rate, the recipient must actually view the message (reading the message notification is not enough) and/or interact with it.

In sales, a lead is a potential customer who has not yet decided to make a purchase.
When a lead chooses a company, they take a specific action that clearly indicates their consent and interest. Even if they have not yet purchased the company's product or service, this means they have opted in as a lead.

An OTP, also known as a one-time password, is an authorization method that involves sending a numeric or alphanumeric password to users to log in to a service, perform a transaction, verify a device, and more.
Unlike generic passwords, a unique OTP is generated every time a user attempts an action, making it a secure method.
Beyond account management, OTPs help monitor unusual behavior and prevent hacking or other types of cyberattacks.
